FAQ

Our iconic core styles PENEDAA CORE/ARCAADIA CORE are made from 100% organic cotton and are GOTS-certified.

Weather & wind-repellent and - due to the natural characteristics of organic cotton - breathable. Our parkas are the core styles of our modular collection and combine our organic-cotton-DNA with smart weaving technique.

We‘re using extra thin and long staple cotton fibers in a very tight weaving technique, creating a wind- and water-repellent fabric. When in contact with water fibers swell, hence creating a water-repellent surface. Our PFC-free finish is contributing to our Outerwear's water- & dirt-repellency and can be refreshed through ironing or in a tumble dryer. Check below care advice for more info.

Small details shall also support longevity, like the zipper patch that isn't inserted but sewn on, making it easier to repair if necessary. Our inside-print is already thinking of this product's future user - if one day you want to pass on your Parka to someone else, add your name and date on the inside.

With our footprint in mind, PENEDAA and ARCAADIA shouldn't be machine washed too often: we recommend brushing or to wipe clean with a damp cloth rather than frequent machine washes.

We us a PFC free DWR (durable water repellency) finish based on silicone chemistry to support our tightly weaved cotton's natural waterrepellency. The finish can be refreshed by ironing or using a tumble dryer. PFC-free means: no perfluorinated and polyflourinated compounds. That is a group of chemicals that threaten the environment and our health. They can be realeased in the environment both in the production but also while using, washing and disposing the respective products. Once PFC are disposed to the environment they can disperse extensively. Since PFC are man-made chemicals and do not occur naturally, they degrade extremely slowly, if at all. They accumulate via air, water and soil into organisms and ultimately into the food chain.

Think twice before wash your garment: small stains can be removed with a damp cloth or brush instead of washing. In case washing is unavoidable, here is how you wash with care: :

  • close all the zippers and buttons, and turn the product inside out,
  • choose delicate wash and maximal 30°
  • add a detergent suitable for wool and silk, and no softener.
  • hang your garment on a hanger to dry.

If the garment starts loosing its water repellent properties- put your dry garment into a tumble dryer for 20 minutes at moderate temperature. This will reactivate your impregnation.

If you are an iron-wo(men) you can also iron the dry garment on moderate temperature - on reverse or with a cloth between- that would reactivate the impregnation as well.

In our modular concept, blouson, waistcoat and quilted Jacket can create an additional warming layer underneath your parka. For our seasonal layers' fabrics we're replacing virgin synthetics with 100% recycled fibers, thus reduce the carbon footprint vs. virgin material. The outer shell is made from 100% the recycled polyamide (pre-consumer waste), the filling is made from 100% recycled PET fibers (post-consumer waste). Our water-repellent styles give warmth, are easily packable and easy to take care of. Our Outerwear layers are GRS certified (CU 1085700).
