Care Guide

How to love & last ARMEDANGELS clothes

With all ARMEDANGELS products, we keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. And what about after the purchase? We pass the responsibility on to you: with the right care, you can also influence the further impact on the environment and the longevity of your product. So it's better to look after it properly than buy new. To help you do this as well as possible, we have the following tips to help you:

But first: the golden rules

It's obvious, but washing less is not a matter of course. Consider whether airing is enough or whether small stains can be treated selectively.

Sort your clothes correctly: Always wash textiles with a hard surface, such as jeans, separately from particularly fine clothing to reduce fiber abrasion. Laundry bags also reduce friction.

Washing machines consume the most energy when heating water. At the same time, it is perfectly sufficient for many products if the temperature is not set too high. Washing at a lower temperature is therefore a win-win situation for the environment, the product and your electricity bill.

The tumble dryer consumes a lot of energy. Hanging laundry out to dry is therefore not only better for your clothes, but also for the environment. Just don't hang your clothes in direct sunlight to prevent the color from fading.

In general, we recommend steaming clothes whenever possible. This protects the fibers, as the steam treatment is gentler than the pressure applied with an iron.

We generally advise against using fabric softener or fabric softeners because they coat the fibers and thus restrict their properties.

With the right care, you can keep your favorite item on for as long as possible. But not all materials are the same. To help you keep an overview, we explain which care is the best option for which item of clothing:

Care Guides:

Organic cotton or recycled cotton

Cotton products are very popular. Features such as breathable and moisture-absorbing properties make the material one of the most widely used fibers, both at ARMEDANGELS and worldwide.

  • First step: check the care label
  • A washing temperature of 30°C (cold) is sufficient
  • Use your favorite gentle (eco) liquid detergent
  • For dyed cotton fabrics, we recommend turning them inside out before washing
  • Shake out carefully before drying and gently pull the garment back into its original shape
  • Dry in the air, but not in direct sunlight
  • For a crease-free look, we recommend steaming your cotton garments

TENCEL™ LYOCELL and LENZING™ ECOVERO™

Similar to cotton, the fibers have breathable and moisture-absorbing properties and are known for their soft feel on the skin.

  • First step: Check the care label
  • The best option is the hand wash program or delicate wash program
  • Use your favorite gentle (eco) liquid detergent
  • Do not overload the washing machine and never wash the products alone
  • shake out carefully before drying and gently pull the garment back into its original shape
  • Dry blouses and dresses best on a hanger
  • Dry in the air, but not in direct sunlight
  • Due to the fiber properties, iron or preferably steam frequently - preferably when it is still damp

DetoxDenim

The rule here is: less is more. In fact, much, much more. The advantage of jeans is that they need to be washed much less than other items of clothing. If you do need to wash them, these tips will help:

  • First step: Check the care label
  • There are also denims with a TENCEL™ LYOCELL content: take another close look at the care label here
  • Washing program: Easy-care in combination with a lower spin speed and temperatures
  • Always wash your DetoxDenim inside out (zipper and buttons closed)
  • Avoid fabric softener and powder detergents - use gentle (eco) liquid detergents instead
  • If your DetoxDenim is also made from TENCEL™ LYOCELL fibers, we recommend using a mild detergent
  • Beware of “bleeding”: With new jeans, the denim dye stains lighter surfaces
  • Remove from the washing machine immediately after washing, turn right side out again and hang to dry by the waistband

Organic wool, RECYCELED WOOL, alpaca, merino and mohair

When someone asks us how to wash a wool sweater, our answer is: in most cases, it's best not to wash it at all! This may sound strange and unhygienic at first, but wool has natural antibacterial and odor-resistant properties that make washing unnecessary. If it is necessary, we have the following tips:

  • First step: Check the care label
  • A washing bag protects the fibers from friction in the washing drum
  • Special wool detergent helps the fiber to stay supple
  • Avoid fabric softener: it coats the fiber and loses its ability to regulate moisture
  • If possible, always treat spot stains acutelyUse the wool washing program of the washing machine and in any case a maximum of 20 degrees
  • SKnitted products should never be washed without other products and at most in a half-filled machine
  • After washing, it is essential to air dry in a flat shape - ideally lying on a towel
  • Before drying, it is advisable to carefully pull the garment back into its original shape, especially along the length. To be on the safe side, you can document the fit of the garment before washing
  • Knitwear requires special care, because over time every knitted product develops small nodules (“pilling”) on the surface. This is completely natural and can be easily removed with a special comb or lint shaver
  • It is important that you do not use a lint roller or scissors, as the fibers tear so easily

Recycled polyamide

The recycled polyamide we use comes largely from post-industrial spinning mill waste or textile waste. The material, which is also used in our ACTIVEWEAR, is quick-drying, lightweight, breathable and hard-wearing. Here are a few care tips to give your clothes an extra dose of love:

  • First step: Check the care label
  • Use a wash bag to avoid microfiber abrasion
  • Use your favorite gentle (eco) liquid detergent
  • Choose a low number of spins
  • The material dries very quickly in the air

Repair Service

Proper care is important. Nevertheless, sometimes something wears out or gets a small tear. But we also have a solution for this: our clothing is repaired by tailors from our repair partner MENDED using original spare parts.

Second Hand Service

Every closet contains treasures that are no longer worn but are still in good condition. We offer such treasures a second life in our second-hand service:
