FAQ

What is Piñayarn®?

Piñayarn® is a yarn made from Anam PALF®, a plant-based fiber derived from pineapple leaves that would otherwise go to waste. Spun into yarn without harsh chemicals or bleaching, it becomes a breathable, soft and strong material.

But what exactly is Anam PALF®?

Anam PALF® is the raw fiber behind Piñayarn®. Made from pineapple leaves left over after the harvest, it's a low-impact alternative to cotton, linen and polyester — and a traceable one too.

What's the difference between a fiber and a yarn?

Think of Anam PALF® as the ingredient and Piñayarn® as what it becomes. The raw pineapple leaf fiber is processed and spun into yarn, blended with Tencel™ Lyocell , which is then woven or knitted into the fabric you wear.

How is Anam PALF® processed?

Using mechanical methods and an enzymatic wash, with no bleaching or harsh chemicals. Water and energy use is kept to a minimum throughout.

Is Piñayarn® breathable and comfortable?

Yes. Piñayarn® is naturally breathable, soft and strong, making it ideal for warm-weather wear. It sits comfortably against the skin and holds its shape well.

Where do the pineapple leaves come from?

From pineapple harvests! Leaves that would otherwise go to waste. No extra land, water or pesticides are needed to grow them. Their use also creates additional income for pineapple farming communities.
