FAQ
Conventional performance outerwear relies on oil-based synthetics like polyester (PES), polyamide (PA), and PFAS finishes. While high-performing, they come with environmental costs: fossil resource dependency, microplastic pollution and the use of persistent chemicals like PFAS. Even recycled options remain fossil-based and continue to shed microplastics — creating a paradox: we dress for the outdoors in materials that don’t belong in nature. Our windbreaker challenges that system.
This windbreaker is made for everyday city life, travel, and transitional seasons. It performs best in moderate weather and changing conditions — whether you’re moving through the city or heading outdoors. The sleek, unisex silhouette makes it easy to style across different settings.
Our windbreaker follows a material-led design approach. It’s made from TENCEL™ Lyocell, a fiber produced by the Lenzing Group in a closed-loop process. The fibers are spun into fine yet durable yarns in Taiwan and woven into a tight ripstop fabric. Our production partner Artifex in Romania then sews the garment.
Our windbreaker was developed as a unisex style using 3D design technology. Its fit and construction are refined digitally at an early stage, reducing the need for physical samples. Producing a single unisex style on one production line helps minimise overproduction. Trims, details, and prints are deliberately kept to a minimum to avoid unnecessary components, labels, and hangtags
Because performance doesn’t have to rely on synthetic materials.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is made from responsibly sourced wood and produced in a closed-loop process where 99.8% of the solvent used is recovered and reused. Compared to conventional, non-branded lyocell, this results in less waste, at least 50% lower water use, and at least 50% lower CO₂e emissions. These figures are based on ISO 14040/44 and are available via the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (version 3.8).In terms of performance, TENCEL™ Lyocell offers qualities that have long been associated with synthetic outerwear: effective moisture management, high breathability, a smooth and soft feel, and natural support for a balanced body climate. The fiber absorbs moisture efficiently, helps keep the wearer dry and can reduce odour formation.
The windbreaker features a PFAS-free water-repellent finish. It provides protection against light drizzle but is not designed for heavy or prolonged rainfall.Protection is achieved through material development and construction rather than chemical shortcuts. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers naturally swell slightly when exposed to moisture, temporarily increasing fabric density. This creates a natural barrier effect that supports light rain protection.Note: Repeated washing will reduce the fabric’s water-repellent properties. To maintain or renew, use specialised waterproofing detergents. For GOTS-compliant care, we recommend Nikwax Tech Wash followed and Nikwax Cotton Proof.
Wind protection comes from the fabric itself, not from an added membrane. The material is permanently compacted using heat and pressure, increasing its density. This process provides up to 97% wind resistance while maintaining breathability. In most synthetic fabrics, wind resistance and breathability work against each other — the more wind-resistant a material is, the less breathable it becomes. With this jacket, both qualities are achieved simultaneously at a high level. Our windbreaker has been tested in independent laboratories in accordance with internationally recognised ISO standards.
Our windbreaker is predominantly nature-based. While 99.9% of all trims use non-synthetic alternatives, a small synthetic component in the zipper is necessary to protect the material and ensure durability. For shipping, we use lightweight recyclable plastic packaging to protect the product from moisture and damage during transport and storage. At present, recycled plastic packaging provides the most reliable protection.
